Dr. Peter Rogatz Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Peter Rogatz Scholarship Fund was created to honor the legacy of End of Life Choices New York co-founder and long term Vice President, Peter Rogatz, MD, MPH. The fund will provide free scholarships for the End of Life Care Community Advocate Training program. End of Life Choices New York created this fully online, self-paced course to prepare professionals across disciplines to advocate for the communities they serve when planning for, or navigating, serious illness and the end of life. The scholarship is for students and early career professionals in the fields of nursing, public health, social work, and medicine with a financial need.

Dr. Rogatz is a retired physician and health and hospital planning consultant. He has been regarded as a top physician in the metro New York area for more than 50 years. He was Director of the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Associate Director of the Health Sciences Center at the State University at Stony Brook, Senior Vice President of New York Blue Cross-Blue Shield, and Vice President for Medical Affairs of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. He has served on various local, state and national health-related boards and committees. He has been deeply concerned throughout his career with issues of medical ethics and he served on the ethics committees of The Medical Society of the State of New York, Hospice Care Network, and the North Shore-LIJ Health System. He is the author of two published books and numerous articles on the organization, delivery and ethics of health care.
